In the summer of 2020, a tragedy unfolded in a quiet Vestal, New York neighborhood that claimed the life of a promising young woman. Seventeen-year-old Lauren Ajax, a female student at Vestal High School, died on July 4th in her family’s home on Rano Boulevard. The incident, which was rooted in domestic violence, sent shockwaves through the community. An argument within the home escalated, culminating in Lauren's stepfather, 62-year-old Jean Guillaume, fatally shooting her.
