Juliana R. Frank, a 29-year-old woman from Middletown, New York, was killed on March 25, 1991, and for a time her death sat in the public mind like a nightmare with no clear ending. Sometime after she was attacked, her body was left along abandoned railroad tracks in Middletown, a place ordinary enough to be overlooked until it suddenly wasn’t.
