In the early morning hours of a cold December day in Syracuse, New York, the life of 25-year-old Asalic Parham was tragically cut short. On December 28, 2020, Parham was found on Evaleen Avenue with a gunshot wound. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. A lifelong resident of Syracuse, Parham was a father, son, and brother, leaving behind a grieving family and a community seeking answers.
The investigation into Parham's death unfolded over the course of the
next few years, leading to the apprehension of three individuals believed to be responsible. The first arrest was made in May 2021, when 18-year-old Zaira Goodin was taken into custody. She was followed by Bernard Bumfield, who was arrested in May 2023. The third suspect, Vanico Spaights, was apprehended in June 2023. All three have been charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the fatal shooting of Asalic Parham.
