In the early morning hours of January 16, 2022, a sense of unease pierced the quiet of Syracuse, New York, as police responded to a call at the Blue Star Market on South Salina Street. Behind the counter of the convenience store, they discovered the body of 32-year-old Raouf Muharram, a clerk who had been shot and killed in what was later described as a 'coldblooded execution.' This tragic event marked the city's first homicide of the year.
