On the night of June 23, 2024, at approximately 10:40 p.m., Syracuse Police officers responded to reports of an individual lying unresponsive in the street near East Fayette Street and Westmoreland Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered 23-year-old Jahliek Stewart suffering from a bleeding wound to his torso. Stewart received immediate medical attention and was transported to Upstate University Hospital. Despite the efforts of medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries on June 24, 2024.
