In the autumn of 2014, the life of a young Syracuse man was cut short by a sudden act of violence. Adon Roberto 'Lil Donnie' Boatwright Jr., a 20-year-old Black male, was fatally shot on the evening of October 25, 2014. Remembered as a vibrant individual who cherished his family, his death sent ripples of grief through his community. He was a father to a young daughter, Jazmin Aniya Boatwright.
On that Saturday evening, just after 7 p.m., Boatwright was seated in a parked van when an
individual approached on foot and shot him. The Syracuse Police Department launched an immediate and thorough investigation into the homicide. Detectives canvassed the neighborhood, interviewing potential witnesses and collecting forensic evidence in an effort to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting.
Despite their efforts, the investigation into Adon Boatwright's murder proved to be fraught with challenges.
