Shaun D. Hutchinson, a 41-year-old male from Easton, Pennsylvania, was fatally shot on the evening of March 5, 2021, in Yonkers, New York. The incident occurred in the first-floor hallway of a residence located at 157 Warburton Avenue. Hutchinson was found with a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.
At the time of the shooting, Hutchinson was visiting a woman with whom he shared a child. A confrontation arose when Alexis D.
Rose, a 35-year-old man from the Bronx who also had a child with the same woman, arrived at the apartment. Rose's presence was in violation of an order of protection. The verbal altercation escalated, leading to Rose pulling out a 9mm semi-automatic handgun and shooting Hutchinson multiple times before fleeing the scene in his vehicle.
Within a couple of hours, law enforcement located Rose's car in Mount Vernon, near his Bronx home. As police attempted to apprehend him, Rose struck an unmarked police vehicle with his car before he was taken into custody. A search of his home uncovered an empty ammunition box, invoices for 9mm firearm parts, and other gun-related paraphernalia.
Alexis Rose was arrested and charged with Murder in the Second Degree, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, and Criminal Contempt in the First Degree. Following a two-week trial, a jury found Rose guilty on all charges on April 25, 2023. He was subsequently sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for the murder of Shaun Hutchinson.
