In the late afternoon of August 26, 2024, a burst of gunfire shattered the peace at Doyle Park on Ashburton Avenue in Yonkers, New York, leaving a community in mourning. When police responded to a series of 911 calls around 5 p.m., they discovered two men who had been shot. One of these men was 29-year-old Daquan 'Drizzy Woo' Glenn. Both victims were rushed to local hospitals, but Glenn, a Black male, could not be saved and was pronounced deceased.
The second victim, who has not been publicly identified, was in stable condition.
Daquan, who also went by the nickname 'Drizzy Woo,' was remembered by family and friends as a caring and humorous person. His mother, Gwendelyn Little, and father, Michechum Glenn, were left to grieve the sudden loss of their son, who was born on January 17, 1995. Friends recalled his good nature and loving personality, with one close family friend expressing the profound pain of his absence. He was known to have a special affection for children, treating every child as if they were his own.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, a significant police presence, including officers from the Westchester County Police Department and a helicopter unit, descended on Doyle Park to search for the shooter. Investigators have described the shooting as a targeted attack, but a motive has not been released. As of now, the investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made, with no suspects having been publicly identified. The Yonkers Police Department has urged anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and contact detectives at 914-377-7724 or to submit an anonymous tip by texting 'YPD' and the information to 274637.
