On the evening of December 7, 2017, 30-year-old Dymere Graham was the victim of a fatal robbery in Yonkers, New York. Two men, Charles Burks and Kentrell Hill, confronted Graham in an alleyway between two buildings on Riverview Place. During the course of the robbery, Burks shot Graham in the buttocks. The two assailants then fled the scene, leaving Graham to die from his wound.
Shortly before 8:00 p.m., Yonkers police discovered his body in the alleyway.
Investigators utilized surveillance footage from the area to identify Burks and Hill as the suspects. Their diligent work led to the apprehension of both men. Following their arrests, the Westchester County District Attorney's Office pursued charges against them. Both men were initially indicted on charges including Murder in the Second Degree. The case proceeded through the legal system, with both defendants eventually entering guilty pleas.
On October 17, 2018, Charles Burks, then 32, pleaded guilty to Manslaughter in the First Degree, a violent felony. His accomplice, Kentrell Hill, who was 20 at the time, pleaded guilty to Robbery in the First Degree, also a violent felony. By January 2019, both men were scheduled for sentencing, each facing a potential maximum sentence of 25 years in state prison for their roles in the robbery that tragically cut Dymere Graham's life short.
