The Hispanic man was fatally shot on April 23, 2021, on Taylor Avenue in the Parkchester neighborhood. Reports indicate that Rivera, a resident of Staten Island, had stopped to check on a man he saw sitting on a bench. This encounter would prove to be his last.
Rivera's life was cut short by gunfire, leaving behind a community in shock and a family to grieve.
His wife, who was expecting twins at the time, later recalled meeting her husband on the very block where he was killed. The incident left many to wonder about the circumstances that could lead to such a senseless act of violence.
The investigation into Rivera's death led police to a suspect several months later. On July 28, 2021, authorities announced the arrest of 27-year-old Paaron Bradley of Parkchester. Bradley was subsequently charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Jason Rivera.
