Shaheem Malachi Bascom, an 18-year-old male, was fatally shot in the chest on the evening of May 10, 2021. The incident occurred around 9:45 p.m. at the intersection of Flatbush Avenue and Farragut Road in the Flatlands neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. Bascom was reportedly on his way to meet a woman he had connected with online when he was ambushed.
Emergency responders found Bascom lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his chest.
He was rushed to Kings County Hospital, but tragically, he could not be saved and was pronounced dead. The shooting is believed to have been a setup, with the online acquaintance possibly luring him to the location.
