Inside the home, 44-year-old Black male Lamont Houston was resting on a couch in the living room during the early morning hours, around 12:30 a.m. The quiet of the night was shattered when an unidentified individual or individuals opened fire from the outside, directing a barrage of bullets into the dwelling.
Houston was struck by the gunfire while still seated in the living area. Emergency services responded to the scene, but the injuries proved fatal, and he died as a result of the shooting. The attack appeared to be a drive-by or an ambush from the street, targeting the home where he was located.
Following the event, law enforcement launched an investigation into the homicide.
