In the summer of 2021, a birthday party in Buffalo's Black Rock neighborhood turned into a scene of tragedy, forever altering the lives of many. Najae Lanier, a 17-year-old female, was at the celebration when a dispute broke out amongst some of the young attendees. The conflict escalated, and a man later identified as Ja'Vair Walker left the gathering, only to return with a firearm.
