On a summer afternoon in the Bronx, the life of 37-year-old Victor Fertides was brought to a violent and sudden end. On Saturday, July 2, 2022, at approximately 2:21 p.m., the sound of gunfire shattered the daily rhythm of the Highbridge neighborhood. Police responded to a 911 call of shots fired in front of 1404 Ogden Avenue, where they discovered Fertides suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He had been shot twice in the torso and once in the right leg.
Emergency medical services arrived at the scene and quickly transported the gravely injured male to NYC Health + Hospitals / Lincoln. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Victor Fertides was pronounced deceased at the hospital. At the time of the incident, Fertides was a resident of Manhattan.
The New York Police Department's 44th Precinct initiated an investigation into the deadly shooting. To date, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects in the killing of Victor Fertides.
