Matthew Jeremiah Webb, a 23-year-old man, died after a senseless and vicious attack that began over a complaint about cold french fries. Employed at a McDonald's in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn, Webb was working on the evening of August 1, 2022, when a customer, Lisa Fulmore, began to argue with him about her fries being cold. During the dispute, Fulmore was on a FaceTime call with her 20-year-old son, Michael Morgan, who soon arrived at the restaurant.
The argument
between Morgan and Webb escalated and moved outside the McDonald's. Surveillance footage captured Morgan punching Webb. As Webb attempted to get up, Morgan shot him in the neck. Webb was rushed to Brookdale Hospital in critical condition and was later declared brain-dead. He succumbed to his injuries and passed away on August 3, 2022. Family members described Webb as a 'loving, fun, respectful young man' who was working two jobs and was an organist at his church.
Michael Morgan was arrested in connection with the shooting. Initially, he was charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon. Following Webb's death, it was anticipated that the charges would be upgraded to murder. Morgan's 18-year-old girlfriend, Camellia Dunlap, was also arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon for allegedly hiding the gun used in the shooting.
In a further development, while in custody for the shooting of Webb, Michael Morgan confessed to a previous murder. He admitted to the October 2020 shooting death of 28-year-old Kevin Holloman, which occurred just a few blocks from the McDonald's.
