In a tragic turn of events on the evening of June 13, 2015, a young life was cut short by violence. Eric Bernard Talbert Jr., a 22-year-old Black male from District Heights, Maryland, was fatally shot in the neighboring community of Forestville. The incident unfolded in the 7200 block of Donnell Place, where patrol officers discovered Talbert outside, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Despite the efforts of first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit immediately launched an investigation into the shooting. Investigators expressed an early belief that the shooting was not a random act of violence. In an effort to generate leads and bring the perpetrator to justice, a substantial reward of up to $25,000 was offered for any information that would lead to an arrest and indictment in the case.
