On an afternoon in early spring, the quiet of a District Heights, Maryland neighborhood was shattered by the sound of gunfire. On April 9, 2020, at approximately 5:10 p.m., patrol officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Berry Lane following a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered 23-year-old Jawuan Ingram, a male resident of Landover, outside suffering from a gunshot wound.
Tragically, his injuries were severe, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The ensuing investigation by the Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit quickly identified a suspect. Detectives determined that Ingram had been inside a nearby home with an acquaintance, 24-year-old Dartangan Page, who had no fixed address. The preliminary investigation revealed that the two men knew each other and were together when Ingram was shot. The circumstances that led to the fatal shooting are still being investigated by detectives.
Within a day of the shooting, authorities arrested Dartangan Page in connection with Ingram's death. He was formally charged with second-degree murder, manslaughter, and other related charges. Following his arrest, Page was taken into the custody of the Department of Corrections. Law enforcement has encouraged anyone with additional information regarding the case to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
