In the late hours of a Thursday evening in District Heights, Maryland, a heated argument between roommates escalated into a fatal encounter. On November 9, 2023, inside an apartment on the 6700 block of Alpine Street, 41-year-old Harold James Roberts, Jr., a male, was shot. The Prince George's County Police Department responded to a call at approximately 10:10 p.m. and discovered Roberts suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Harold James Roberts, Jr. succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead the following day, November 10, 2023. At the scene of the shooting, officers took his 54-year-old roommate, Dwayne Houge, into custody without incident. The preliminary investigation conducted by the Homicide Unit determined that the shooting occurred during a dispute between the two men.
Following the investigation, Dwayne Houge was charged in connection with the death of his roommate. The charges filed against him included first and second-degree murder, as well as other related charges. Houge was subsequently taken into the custody of the Department of Corrections. The Prince George's County Police Department is responsible for investigating all homicides within the city of District Heights and the investigation into this case remains ongoing.
