On the evening of November 7, 2019, 34-year-old Edrian Hernandez, a male resident of Silver Spring, Maryland, was fatally shot while sitting in his car in District Heights. The incident occurred around 5 p.m. in the 6200 block of Hilmar Circle. Prince George's County police officers responded to a report of a shooting and discovered Hernandez unresponsive in the driver's seat, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body.
He was quickly transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The investigation into the death of Hernandez, which authorities stated did not appear to be a random act, led to the identification of a suspect. Raymond Thompson, 28 years old at the time of his conviction, was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting. The investigation revealed that Thompson had approached Hernandez's parked vehicle and fired several shots inside, striking him multiple times.
Following his arrest, Raymond Thompson was charged with the murder of Edrian Hernandez. In August 2025, a jury found Thompson guilty on all counts, including first-degree murder, use of a handgun in the commission of a violent crime, and carrying a dangerous weapon with intent to injure. His sentencing was scheduled for November 20, 2025, where he faced a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
