On the evening of October 7, 2015, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Prince George's County Police officers responded to a reported shooting in the 1400 block of Elkwood Lane in Capitol Heights, Maryland. Upon arrival, they discovered 48-year-old Cofield Richardson Jr. suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Tragically, Richardson was pronounced dead at the scene, which is located near Robert R. Gray Elementary School.
