Dontay Hughes, a 39-year-old resident of Baltimore, Maryland, was fatally shot on July 3, 2016. The incident occurred on Poplar Grove Street around 4 p.m. when officers responded to reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found Hughes with a gunshot wound to his chest. Despite being transported to the hospital, Hughes succumbed to his injuries.
