In the spring of 2018, the life of 16-year-old Jordan Leon Deshields was tragically cut short, marking another grim milestone for the city of Baltimore. On the evening of May 8th, Deshields was fatally shot near a basketball court at the Mary Rodman Recreation Center in the southwest part of the city. His death was recorded as the 100th homicide in Baltimore that year, a somber statistic that highlighted the ongoing violence plaguing the community.
