A nude woman's body is discovered by a passerby
On October 6, 2016, Lindsey Leigh Maccabee, a 30-year-old woman, was found dead along Lake Road, just south of Pleasantville Road in Pleasantville, Ohio. Lindsey's unclothed body was discovered by a passerby in rural Fairfield County, with no personal belongings nearby. Her death was immediately ruled a homicide, but the person responsible remains unknown. Lindsey was a resident of the southern part of Columbus, Ohio, and was known to frequent Parsons Avenue, an area associated with significant drug activity. Unfortunately, she was struggling with addiction at the time of her death, a factor that appears to have influenced the circumstances that led to her tragic fate.
Maccabee's body was discovered less than a month before another body, that of 25-year-old Danielle Greene, was found under similar circumstances. Greene's remains were discovered in a creek bed off Allen Road in Violet Township, also in Fairfield County. The two women were both mothers and had known each other while living in the same area of South Columbus. Both were found in isolated locations about 30 miles away from where they lived, and their deaths occurred within a short span of time. The similarities between the cases, including the manner of disposal and their shared background of addiction, have prompted authorities to consider a possible connection between the two murders.
Despite some early investigative leads, such as a potential connection to Edwin Zimmerman, a registered sex offender with a history of targeting women involved in prostitution, authorities have not found any concrete evidence linking him to these murders. Zimmerman was briefly considered a person of interest because he mentioned both Maccabee and Greene while talking about his crimes, but he was eventually ruled out. Investigators continue to seek information regarding these unsolved homicides, and the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone with potential leads to come forward, offering anonymity to those who wish to provide tips.
