On June 20, 2014, Dorcas Law, age 26, was shot while driving in north Columbus, Ohio, in a tragic incident that also claimed the life of her passenger, Delrec Avant. Around 1:00 a.m., their car was found crashed into parked vehicles and a fire hydrant near Eden Springs Apartments on Roche Drive. Both victims had sustained gunshot wounds to their upper bodies. Law was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital with life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead later that evening.
Avant was transported to OSU Wexner Medical Center but was also pronounced dead that morning.
The Columbus Police launched an investigation into this double homicide but have not yet identified any suspects or motives. This case remains unsolved, with appeals from local authorities for any information that might help resolve the circumstances surrounding these deaths. The Ohio Attorney General’s Office includes Law’s case among its unsolved homicides, encouraging anyone with relevant details to come forward to aid in bringing justice and closure to her family and loved ones.
