On August 20, 2024, Sowmya Balasubramanian, a 31-year-old woman from Columbus, Ohio, was found dead in what authorities are investigating as a murder-suicide. Alongside her was her husband, Balasubramanian Kathavarayan, aged 38. The couple was discovered in their apartment located on Lauffer Ravines Drive after police were called to the scene due to concerns from a neighbor about their children being unable to enter the home.
