On the night of July 30, 2016, the quiet of a Bowie, Maryland street was broken by a grim discovery. In the 15700 block of Everest Drive, a man was found lying in the roadway, the victim of a fatal shooting. The man was identified as 44-year-old Cleve Craig Monnity of Lanham. When officers from the Bowie Police Department arrived around 10:40 p.m. to check on his welfare, they found Monnity suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
