In a quiet neighborhood in Bowie, Maryland, the evening of June 24, 2024, was shattered by gunfire. Seventeen-year-old Re’Sheed Reid was walking along Lake Overlook Drive when a car reportedly pulled up beside him. Shots were fired from the vehicle, and the young man was left lying in the street.
When Prince George's County police officers arrived at the 900 block of Lake Overlook Drive around 6:35 p.m., they found Re’Sheed suffering from gunshot wounds.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident left the local community in shock, with neighbors expressing their sadness and frustration over the violence that had claimed the life of a teenager they knew. Re'Sheed was a student at Flowers High School.
Homicide detectives are actively investigating the fatal shooting. At this time, the police have not identified any suspects and are still working to determine a motive for the shooting. Investigators were seen canvassing the area and collecting evidence, including at least two shell casings found on the ground. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for any information that leads to an arrest and indictment in the case. Authorities are urging anyone with information, including doorbell camera footage, to come forward and contact detectives.
