In the quiet, early morning hours of July 31, 2014, the sense of peace in a Bowie, Maryland, neighborhood was shattered by violence. Inside his home on Chessington Way, 39-year-old Amir Ali Jr., a married father of three and a respected Metro bus driver, was fatally shot. The attack occurred around 5:45 a.m. as he was preparing to leave for work. His wife and other family members were present in the house at the time of the home invasion but were not physically harmed.
