In the quiet, early morning hours of August 12, 2021, Noel Njoku, a 48-year-old Black man, was diligently working his shift as a DoorDash driver in Mitchellville, Maryland. A husband and a father to four children, he had recently taken on the delivery job to supplement his income from selling cars, all in an effort to provide for his family. His life, however, came to a sudden and violent end in what should have been an ordinary delivery. While in his car on Lottsford Vista Road, Njoku was shot multiple times.

Responding to a call around 12:20 a.m., officers from the Prince George's County Police Department discovered Njoku inside his vehicle, suffering from grave gunshot wounds. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, but the injuries proved to be fatal, and he died shortly after his arrival. The initial investigation left both his grieving family and the local community without answers, as police worked to determine a motive and identify any potential suspects in the seemingly senseless act of violence.

After months of investigation, a breakthrough in the case came on October 25, 2021, when police announced the arrest of Tracy Miles Goodson, 39, of Mitchellville. Goodson was subsequently charged with first and second-degree murder in the death of Noel Njoku. Investigators believe that the motive for the killing was a robbery and that Njoku did not know his attacker. Following his arrest, Tracy Miles Goodson was held without bond.
