In the early morning hours of October 30, 2016, the life of 14-year-old Todd James Webb Jr. was tragically cut short in a burst of gunfire in Capitol Heights, Maryland. The male teenager was one of two young men who lost their lives that day during a chaotic scene at a dice game.
The incident unfolded in the 6800 block of Walker Mill Road, where a group had gathered for a dice game.
For reasons that remain somewhat unclear, an initial round of shooting erupted, sending attendees scrambling for cover. In this first wave of violence, 18-year-old Brian Davis was struck and killed.
In the immediate aftermath of the first shooting, investigators believe 22-year-old Bravon Michael Freeman entered an apartment building, retrieved a handgun, and then shot Todd James Webb Jr. Witnesses at the scene reported that after shooting the teenager, Freeman also physically assaulted him. In total, six people were shot during the entire incident, with Webb and Davis succumbing to their injuries.
Police who responded to the scene were able to identify and arrest Bravon Michael Freeman. He was subsequently charged with the first and second-degree murder of Todd James Webb Jr. At the time of his arrest, the investigation into the initial shooting that killed Brian Davis was still ongoing, and police were searching for additional suspects.
