On the night of October 5, 2023, a dispute in Capitol Heights, Maryland, ended in the tragic death of 36-year-old Jammi Cooper. A male Washington, D.C. resident, Cooper was found outside in the 4100 block of Southern Avenue at approximately 10:50 p.m., suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries several hours later.
The investigation into the shooting revealed that it stemmed from a domestic argument between Cooper and a
17-year-old male relative. While the specifics of their dispute have not been publicly disclosed, the altercation escalated to the point of fatal violence. The teenage suspect was subsequently located and taken into custody in Washington, D.C.
The 17-year-old is facing serious charges in connection with Cooper's death and is being charged as an adult. The charges filed against him include first and second-degree murder, as well as other related offenses. At the time of his arrest, he was awaiting extradition from Washington, D.C., to Prince George's County to face the charges.
