On October 5, 2023, at approximately 10:50 p.m., Prince George's County Police officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 4100 block of Southern Avenue in Capitol Heights, Maryland. Upon arrival, they discovered 36-year-old Jammi Cooper of Washington, D.C., suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Cooper was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries several hours later.
