Charles Leon Johnson II, a 29-year-old African American male, died on July 22, 2014, in Adairsville, Georgia. The incident occurred during a confrontation with an Adairsville police officer. According to reports, the officer conducted a routine check on the license plate of Johnson's vehicle at a Quick Trip gas station and discovered that Johnson was wanted on a simple battery charge out of Richmond County. When the officer attempted to arrest him on a ramp to northbound I-75, a struggle ensued.
