In the fall of 2008, a young man named Victor White, a 23-year-old resident of Capitol Heights, Maryland, lost his life in a violent encounter. On the evening of November 14th, White entered the Oriental Express, a local carryout restaurant on Marlboro Pike. His intention was not to order food, but to rob the establishment.
During the course of the robbery, White assaulted several employees, escalating the situation into a dangerous confrontation.
In a desperate act of self-defense and to protect his fellow workers, an employee of the restaurant produced a firearm and shot White multiple times. The authorities were promptly called to the scene.
Upon their arrival, police officers discovered Victor White suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Prince George's County Police Department launched a thorough investigation into the shooting. Detectives reviewed security camera footage from the restaurant and conducted interviews with all available witnesses.
