In the early hours of a Friday morning in Essex, Maryland, a knock at the door tragically altered the course of a young man's life. It was November 11, 2016, when 19-year-old Breon Markeith Baglin, a male resident of Baltimore, answered a summons at his home on Seagate Court. At approximately 1:05 a.m., upon opening the door, he was immediately met with gunfire and was shot at least once in his upper body.
The violence of that moment proved fatal, and Breon was pronounced dead at the scene.
The assailant, who had arrived under the cover of darkness, was not alone in unleashing this sudden terror. A second individual standing behind Breon, 20-year-old Juwan Khalil Mitchell, was also struck by at least one bullet in the lower body. While Mitchell was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries he was expected to survive, Breon's life was cut short in an instant. The shooter fled the scene immediately after the attack, disappearing into the night and leaving a scene of bloodshed and unanswered questions.

Despite initial investigations by the Baltimore County Police, no suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
