In the early morning hours of January 24, 2020, the life of 29-year-old David Leroy King, a Black male from Essex, Maryland, was tragically cut short. King, also known by his rapper name "Dee Dave," was fatally shot in a double shooting that occurred around 5:11 a.m. in the 900 block of Holgate Drive. When Baltimore County police officers arrived at the scene outside a residence, they discovered two men who had sustained gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the
location, but despite their efforts, King was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim, another adult male, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The initial investigation by homicide detectives suggested that both men were outside when they were shot. King resided on the 2100 block of Westfield Road.
In the weeks following the shooting, detectives from the Baltimore County Police Homicide Unit identified a suspect in the case. Calvin Krasheen Fogg, a 27-year-old man with no fixed address, was arrested and charged with the first-degree murder of David Leroy King. In addition to the murder charge, Fogg was also charged with attempted first-degree murder for the shooting of the second man who survived the incident. Following his arrest, Fogg was held at the Baltimore County Detention Center without bail.
