In the early morning hours of July 8, 2017, the life of 37-year-old Anthony Russell of Oxon Hill, Maryland, was tragically cut short. A male victim, later identified as Russell, was discovered with gunshot wounds in the 5700 block of Cypress Creek Drive in the Chillum area of Prince George's County.
Patrol officers responded to a report of a shooting at approximately 5:15 a.m. and found Russell outside. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The case was ruled a homicide.
In the year that followed, detectives from the Prince George's County Police Department continued to investigate the fatal shooting. They actively sought information from the public to help identify and apprehend the person or persons responsible for Russell's death. A reward of up to $25,000 was offered for any information that would lead to an arrest and indictment in the case.
Despite the ongoing investigation and the offered reward, there have been no public announcements regarding any arrests or the identification of any suspects in the years since the incident. The case of Anthony Russell's death remains an unsolved homicide.
