In the quiet suburban landscape of Germantown, Maryland, the life of 30-year-old Maurice Cortez Mercer II, a male, came to a violent and tragic end. On the afternoon of January 3, 2018, concerned parties requested a welfare check at Mercer's home on Cross Ridge Way. Responding officers from the Montgomery County Police Department made a grim discovery; Mercer was found deceased inside his residence, the victim of a fatal gunshot wound.
