Varney Batener Jr., a 24-year-old resident of Hyattsville, Maryland, was tragically shot to death on January 30, 2019, in Bladensburg, Maryland. The incident occurred in the 5000 block of 57th Avenue around 5:05 p.m. Responding officers from the Prince George’s County Police Department and the Town of Bladensburg found Batener and another man, 23-year-old Jonathan Contreras of Bowie, with gunshot wounds.
