In the autumn of 2015, a burst of gunfire shattered the afternoon calm in a Bladensburg, Maryland neighborhood, leaving a young man's life cut tragically short. Antione Jajuan Freeman, a 23-year-old male from Landover Hills, was found suffering from a gunshot wound on October 13, 2015, in the 5600 block of Mary A Court. The shooting, which occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m., also left another man wounded.
Responding Bladensburg Police officers discovered the chaotic scene and
administered CPR to Freeman before paramedics arrived. He was rushed to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead. The second victim, who has not been publicly identified, was also transported to a hospital and was reported to be in stable condition. Investigators believe both men were wounded in the same incident.
In the immediate aftermath, Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit took the lead on the investigation, treating Freeman's death as a homicide. Authorities urged the public for assistance, offering a substantial reward of up to $25,000 for any information that would lead to an arrest and conviction in the case.
