In the early morning hours of December 7, 2022, a seemingly routine car crash on Annapolis Road in Bladensburg, Maryland, revealed a grim scene. Responding to a call at approximately 3:40 a.m., officers discovered an SUV that had been involved in a single-vehicle accident in the 5400 block of Annapolis Road. Inside the vehicle, however, were not just the victims of a crash, but the targets of a violent act.
Twenty-nine-year-old Moshood Akinrinsola of Beltsville, and another man, 29-year-old Abdul Bah, were found with gunshot wounds. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the double homicide immediately launched, with detectives from the Prince George's County Police Department working to piece together the events that led to the shooting. Initially, authorities sought the public's help in identifying a suspect or suspects and offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment. For nearly a year, the case remained under active investigation as detectives pursued leads.
A significant breakthrough in the case came in October 2023. Through their investigation, detectives identified 35-year-old Dwayne Richardson of Bladensburg as the suspect in the murders of Moshood Akinrinsola and Abdul Bah. It was determined that the suspect and the victims were known to each other, although a specific motive for the shooting remained under investigation. Richardson was subsequently arrested and charged with two counts of first and second-degree murder, along with related charges. He was taken into the custody of the Department of Corrections.
