On a summer evening in Baltimore, Maryland, the life of 21-year-old Davron Dorsey was cut short by gunfire. The incident occurred on June 27, 2019, in the 3100 block of Belvedere Avenue, near the Pimlico Race Course. Just before 9:30 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting and discovered Dorsey suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators later revealed that they believed Dorsey was the victim of a targeted attack.
The investigation into Dorsey's murder led Baltimore police to identify a suspect, Tracy Jones, who was 16 years old at the time of the shooting. Jones was subsequently arrested and charged with first-degree murder and several firearms-related offenses. According to prosecutors, the shooting was captured on surveillance video. The footage allegedly showed Jones riding a bicycle past the Ez-Shop Grocery store where Dorsey was located. A short time later, Jones, having changed his clothes, returned to the scene and shot Dorsey twice before fleeing. Dorsey sustained a gunshot wound to his back and a graze wound to his head. During the investigation, police recovered two cartridge casings from the scene.
