In the spring of 2020, the life of a Baltimore teenager was tragically cut short. On the afternoon of Monday, March 23, 2020, Ricky King III, a 17-year-old male, was fatally shot in the northwest part of the city. The incident occurred around 5 p.m. in the 3900 block of Ridgewood Avenue, near George W.F. McMechen High School. When police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the young man suffering from a gunshot wound.
