On the evening of the Fourth of July in 2025, while the sky over Baltimore, Maryland, was intermittently illuminated by fireworks, Jamard Thomas, a 40-year-old Black man, was shot multiple times. The incident occurred on the 2600 block of Greenmount Avenue at approximately 9:24 p.m. Shortly after police were called to the scene, Thomas walked into a local hospital with gunshot wounds to his upper body.
