In the early hours of July 5, 2020, a Fourth of July party in Annapolis, Maryland, turned tragic when gunfire erupted, claiming the life of 19-year-old Justin Keith Beasley Jr. A male, originally from North Carolina, Beasley was attending a large gathering in the 1600 block of Cananaro Drive when the shooting occurred at approximately 12:40 a.m. Responding Anne Arundel County Police officers discovered a chaotic scene with a large crowd and found Beasley suffering from a gunshot wound to his
upper body.
Despite the immediate administration of CPR by patrol units and his subsequent transport to a local hospital, Beasley succumbed to his injuries. The incident, which also resulted in a second 19-year-old male being shot and hospitalized with injuries, was quickly ruled a homicide by authorities. Homicide detectives and the Evidence Collection Unit processed the scene and conducted several interviews with party attendees.
To date, the investigation into Beasley's death remains an active and ongoing cold case. Law enforcement officials believe that numerous eyewitnesses were present at the party who have yet to provide information about the shooting. The Anne Arundel County Police Department continues to urge anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward and has offered a financial reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Justin Keith Beasley Jr.'s death. No suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in the case.
