In the late summer of 2020, the life of 19-year-old Jaemari Alvin Anderson was tragically cut short in Frederick, Maryland. A recent graduate of Walkersville High School, Jaemari was known for his caring nature and leadership qualities. He was active in his community, playing football for the Frederick Steelers and basketball for the local Boys and Girls Club.
His life came to a violent end on September 7, 2020, following an incident the previous evening.
On the evening of September 6, 2020, deputies from the Frederick County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a walking path in the Waterside community. There, they found Jaemari suffering from a gunshot wound. He was airlifted to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he succumbed to his injuries the following day. The cause of death was determined to be a single gunshot wound to the head.
The investigation into Jaemari's death led to the identification of three suspects: Jordan Hooks, Brian Braheem Henry, and Daniel Alonzo Flythe. Investigators discovered that Jaemari had been at Hooks' residence on the day of the shooting, where a verbal altercation took place. This dispute escalated, leading the group to the walking path where the fatal shooting occurred. It was reported that as Jaemari prepared for a physical fight, he turned to hand his eyeglasses to Flythe and was shot at close range.
Law enforcement officials moved swiftly to apprehend the individuals involved. Jordan Hooks was arrested on September 11, 2020. Brian Henry was taken into custody on December 15, 2020. The final suspect, Daniel Alonzo Flythe, was apprehended in Philadelphia on April 6, 2021. All three men faced multiple charges, including first-degree murder, in connection with Jaemari's death.
