In the early morning hours of April 7, 2021, a fatal encounter unfolded in the parking lot of the Takoma Overlook Condominiums in Takoma Park, Maryland, forever altering the lives of two families. James Lionel Johnson, a 38-year-old Black male from District Heights, and his companion, 32-year-old Dominique Williams of Hyattsville, were shot by an off-duty Pentagon Force Protection Agency police officer. The two men were rushed to a nearby hospital but ultimately succumbed to their injuries.
