On the evening of October 18, 2022, the sound of gunfire broke the quiet on Murph Avenue in Hagerstown, Maryland. Responding to the shots and a subsequent 911 call, Hagerstown Police officers discovered 45-year-old Sharron Akraim Clark, a male resident of the city, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers rendered aid until medical personnel arrived and transported him to Meritus Medical Center, where he was ultimately pronounced dead.
The investigation into Clark's death quickly
identified a suspect, Taejon Najeire Gill, who was 20 years old at the time. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and authorities warned that he should be considered armed and dangerous. The motive for the shooting was not immediately clear, though it was reported that Gill's mother had a prior relationship with Clark. For months, Gill remained at large, with his whereabouts unknown.
The search for Taejon Gill gained national attention when the case was featured on an episode of 'America's Most Wanted' on February 19, 2024. The television exposure was an effort to generate public tips that might lead to his capture. The relentless investigation by Hagerstown detectives, in collaboration with multiple law enforcement agencies, finally paid off. On June 13, 2024, Gill was apprehended in Charlotte, North Carolina, by a coordinated effort involving the Maryland State Apprehension Team, the Capital Area Regional Task Force, and the Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force. Following his arrest, authorities began the process of extraditing Gill back to Maryland to face charges for the murder of Sharron Akraim Clark.
