In the quiet town of Hagerstown, Maryland, the life of 22-year-old Cody Brian Lynn was tragically cut short on the evening of Monday, November 12, 2018. Officers from the Hagerstown Police Department were dispatched to a residence on North Locust Street at 8:46 p.m., where they discovered Lynn inside, suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical attention and being rushed to Meritus Medical Center, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The initial
investigation into the young man's death quickly became a homicide case. A K9 unit was brought in to search the surrounding area for any trace of a suspect, but their efforts were unsuccessful in the immediate aftermath. As the community reeled from the violent loss, the Hagerstown Police Department appealed to the public for any information that could lead to the identification and arrest of those responsible for Cody Lynn's death, offering a reward to encourage witnesses to come forward.

On the following Sunday, two individuals, 31-year-old Dewayne Dawkins and 50-year-old Angelique Booker, were apprehended by Frederick County detectives at an Econo Lodge in Frederick. The trio was taken to the Washington County Detention Center and faced a litany of serious charges.
The charges laid against the three suspects were extensive. Angelique Booker faced charges of first and second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and having a handgun in a vehicle. Rahim Gibson's charges included first and second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, conspiracy to commit murder and assault, reckless endangerment, and several firearm charges.
