Anna Beasley Loebsack, a 36-year-old Caucasian woman, found her life tragically cut short on November 27, 2007, in Aiken, South Carolina. A graduate of South Aiken High School and with both a bachelor's and a master's degree from Clemson University, Anna had built a life as a research scientist before becoming a dedicated homemaker and mother to her two sons, Joseph and Thomas.
She was an active member of her community and church, known for her love of horses.
The events of that fateful day unfolded at the family home in Aiken. Following a meeting with lawyers concerning his impending divorce, Anna's father, 61-year-old Alton McCoy Beasley, confronted his wife and daughters. In a devastating turn of events, Alton Beasley shot Anna twice, inflicting fatal wounds. He also shot and killed Anna's older sister, 47-year-old Elizabeth Beasley, as she tried to flee. A friend of the family who was also present was injured in the attack but survived.
In the immediate aftermath of the violent episode, Alton Beasley turned the gun on himself, taking his own life. This act concluded the tragic event, leaving no suspect to be apprehended by law enforcement. Investigators at the time believed that alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the incident and ordered toxicology tests to be performed on Alton Beasley. The case was subsequently closed as the perpetrator was deceased, and no further arrests were made. The community was left to mourn the profound loss of Anna and her sister, a sorrowful end to a life remembered for its vibrancy and dedication to family.
