Eugene Andrew Gregory, a 55-year-old Deputy Sheriff with the Seminole County Sheriff's Office, tragically lost his life on July 8, 1998, in Seminole, Florida. Deputy Gregory was responding to a distress call regarding shots fired at approximately 8:45 p.m. The incident began when the suspect, Alan Singletary, threatened his landlord with a weapon during an eviction attempt.
